Introducing Information Age Prayer Version 2.0, Beta
IAP Staff : May 22, 2011 12:00 amToday we are really excited to release the new version of our website and service. We have made a lot of changes and we are really looking forward to hearing what our users think so please send us feedback.
Upgrades for the site:
We now stream the sounds of people saying the prayers, for free and without any advertisements. These sounds can be embedded on any web page or blog as shown in the gray box below. We hope that people will pray along with the volunteers who have recorded prayers. The text of prayers is more easily accessible now, each on its own page with its own permalink. We have also expanded our library to include prayers in eight languages.
After getting some critical feedback about ignoring about 2.5 billion people, we have added an entire Mantra category.

Upgrades for the service:
We have completed a huge upgrade from our previous, manually updated voicing system. Now prayers can be voiced just moments after they are requested with the help of a completely automated system. The names of the people that the prayers are for are read out loud by the computer before each prayer (in the earlier system these names were only displayed on the screen). There is a new login system which allows users to track exactly when their prayers are voiced. There is also functionality allowing users to easily renew or extend their prayers. The system will automatically remind users when the prayers they have purchased will be ending. We have moved over to a point system, with users obtaining free points every week which can be used to request prayers. In case the users free points are not sufficient then they can complete their request through paypal, with proceeds going to support the service and charities.

The significance of our charities
IAP Staff : May 1, 2011 9:24 amAt Information Age Prayer we strongly believe it is not enough to have a computer pray for you; it is not even enough if you pray yourself. It is important to follow prayer with some action or change. The world has seen a terrible number of natural and man-made catastrophes in recent years. Wherever they occur, generous volunteers are there to help the people effected to improve their situation.
All Hands Volunteers is organization, that provides hands-on assistance to survivors of natural disasters around the world. One of our own volunteers went with them to Peru in 2007-8 to help rebuild after an earthquake so we know about the good this group does from first hand experience (no pun intended).
We hope that with the release of version 2.0, iaPrayer will be in a great position to help those in need. There will be more people praying, requesting prayers and going out there to help people with their own two hands.
